Grey is an ideal choice for a job interview, especially if you apply for a position in management or leadership. In grey colour, people look respectable and radiate authority, however, they look humanly. This colour is not distracting and can be always combined with another colour or a piece of accessories. Red is the colour of love and passion. It is an emotionally charged colour as it stimulates faster heart rate and breathing. Though it is attractive, in some cases it may look aggressive or outright irritatingly. For formal occasions - which is the case of a job interview - red colour of your apparel is downright inappropriate.
Yellow is a glittering, joyful, eccentric and visually excessively attractive colour. It is a colour that is difficult to look at; sometimes it may even look unbearable to our sight, especially if you wear a lot of it. Although yellow colour stimulates concentration, it is not recommended choice for job interviews.
Green colour symbolizes nature, piece or viridity, and people tend to perceive it optimistically. And that holds true in spite of the fact that e.g. dark green speaks of masculinity, conservativeness, and radiates certain remoteness. In relation to job and career in general, green colour gives an impression of reliability, self-reliance and responsibility.
In general, blue is one of the most popular colours and all its shades give a very positive impression. It implies professionalism, creativity and has a calming effect on human body. Experts recommend blue colour for job interviews, as it symbolizes loyalty and power. However, it is advisable not to opt for too light shades of blue.
Violet colour is a symbol of nobility, and evokes luxury, affluence and artfulness. It is a colour which is definitely not recommended to wear on occasion of a job interview, as it is understood as mostly feminine and romantic. Moreover, it is not a colour that you would commonly find in nature so it sometimes may look a bit artificial.
Brown is a calming earthy colour which we find all around us. It gives impression of respectability and trustworthiness. If you decide to opt for shades of brown for a job interview, you will look as a respectable, reliable and stable person, and stimulate good communication.
